Air Watch 2003
.

.
From the 17th to the 21st of March Ashleigh, Guy, Morgan and Megan travelled to the top level car park of Southland Shopping Centre to do VAQ (visual air quality) observations for the National Air Watch Snapshot Week.

We looked for the Linton St towers (3 km), Monash Uni (10 km), Waverley stadium (13 km) the CBD (20 km) and Mt Dandenong (30 km). A VAQ of 30 km or more is good, 20 - 30 km is fair, 13 - 20 km is poor and less than 13 km is very poor.

The Air Watch program is based in Australia. It aims to help students to be more aware of air pollution and weather conditions.
Every day we also downloaded the information from our weather station to find out things like: daily temperatures, wind direction and speed, humidity and rainfall. It was interesting  that the weather station said that it didn’t rain a lot but we thought it did.

On Monday the 24th, we entered our results into our school's section on the AirWatch webpage. We also looked at other students results from around Australia. If you would like to view the results also, click this link:

The VAQ was good on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday - we could
see Mt Dandenong. On Thursday and
Friday it was only fair as we could see
the CBD but not Mt Dandenong.
