Why choose Southmoor?
We’d love to welcome your family to Southmoor. To help your child settle in confidently, we offer supportive transition activities like orientation days, classroom visits and parent sessions. Every new student is matched with a Grade 6 buddy for a warm, friendly start and our dedicated play spaces let younger children explore, play and make friends safely. It’s this caring, community-focused approach that helps new students feel supported and ready for a successful start to primary school.

FAQs
If you have any questions not answered here, please feel free to contact us.
What age does my child need to be to start school?
Your child must turn 5 years old by April 30 of the year they begin primary school.
How can I track the status of my enrolment application?
Once you’ve submitted your application, you can contact our school office to inquire about its status or receive updates on the processing.
I missed the enrolment deadline. What do I do?
Foundation enrolment applications submitted after the deadline will be processed as they are received in line with the Department of Education’s Placement Policy.
Can I apply if we live outside the school zone?
Yes, you can apply for enrolment even if you live outside our designated school zone. However, placement is subject to availability.
Are families expected to pay school fees?
Under the Department of Education’s policy, schools receive funding to deliver the standard Victorian Curriculum. This ensures all students can access core learning programs at no cost to you. However, government funding only covers the basics. Many resources and programs that enrich school life are not covered. To provide high-quality resources, engaging programs and a richer learning environment, we rely on the generous support of our families through voluntary financial contributions. Payment details for the coming school year are shared at the end of Term 4 each year. Contributions can be made through Compass.
Does the school offer financial assistance?
We understand that some families may find it difficult to contribute. If that’s the case, we encourage you to contact us. Support options include Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF), State Schools Relief (SSR) and Flexible payment plans. Please contact our Business Manager, Johann Hudson, on (03) 9555 1235 for a confidential discussion.
